The Orangeade is a vintage drink recipe from Harry Johnson's New and Improved Bartender's Manual, Harry Johnson, 1882. The original wording is preserved here beside a modernized version for easier mixing.

Original Recipe
Use large bar glass. 2 dashes of lemon juice, ½ tablespoonful of sugar, the juice of 1 orange, 1 wine glass of water, fill with ice, shake well, and serve.
Modern Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 dashes lemon juice
- ½ tablespoon (7.5 ml) sugar
- Juice of 1 orange
- 2 oz (60 ml) water
- Ice
Instructions
Fill a glass with lemon juice, sugar, orange juice, and water. Add ice, shake well, and serve.
