Original Recipe

Use large bar glass, 1 tablespoonful of sugar, 2 wine glasses of ale. Put over fire and boil, beat up 1 egg and pour the hot ale over it slowly, beating the egg at the same time. Add ½ wine glass of Brandy, and grate nutmeg on top.

Modern Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sugar
  • 4 oz (120 ml) ale
  • 1 egg
  • 1 oz (30 ml) brandy
  • Nutmeg (grated)

Instructions

Boil the ale, then slowly pour it over the beaten egg while stirring. Add sugar and brandy, grate nutmeg on top, and serve.
